Who We Are
Delta Wildfire is an emergency response company in Wildfire structure protection and flood response throughout Western and Central Canada. Working at Delta you will be part of a specialized response team who supports Wildfire Management agencies and private clients with the use of 4-inch and 2.5-inch hose lay systems in urban interface situations across Canada. Working in an organized and defined command structure, you will provide knowledge and experience in deploying 4" inch mainline hose to support all aspects of Structure Protection.
This will include perimeter and internal sprinkler set ups to protect critical infrastructure from being impacted by Wildfires. Our flood response includes Tiger Dam, Arc Dam set ups along with utilization of our fleet of Tohatsu Pumps to dewater and meet recovery efforts.
This is a seasonal 8-month hourly position.
Primary Crew Leader Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Work closely with direct supervisors daily and help grow crew confidence through training opportunities and daily tasks. Provide leadership and supervision to a seasonal staff of up to 2-5 crew members Work co-operatively with others in a team environment under adverse conditions. Ensure accurate and detailed daily notes and time are completed and submitted through establish chain of command. Ensure daily safety briefings are documented utilizing our Site Docs Field App. Ensure all response equipment is maintained to the highest standards and ready for response 24/7 during the season. Maintain a high degree of personal safety as well as crew members. Lead by example and prepare crew daily in the highest possible readiness. When not deployed, ensure crew members have continuous training and understanding all aspects of our equipment. Be able to lift 75 pounds. Be able to work in high stress and arduous conditions or otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment, such as but not limited to fire, floods, heat, rain, and snow for up to 21 days. Assess hazards, develop Controls and Make Risk Decisions in the best interest of the crew and safety. Submit accident/incident reports with pertinent forms through established chain of command. Ensure Vehicles/Heavy Equipment Inspection Checklists are competed daily for the safe operation
Qualifications
This is a safety‑sensitive position requiring operation of emergency vehicles and supervision of crew members. Applicants must be at least 19 years old to meet insurance and safety requirements. Clean abstract Class 5 Drivers License or higher with ability to get a heavy trailer endorsement. 2-5 years of Wildland Fire experience as a squad boss. Excellent Physical shape and be able to pass BCWS fitness standards for contractors. OFA Level 1 Ticket Preferred. S-100 Basic Wildfire Suppression (Additional Training will be provided) S-185 Fire Entrapment (Additional training will be provided) S- 212 Fire Line Communications ICS 100 Incident Command or higher (Additional Training will be provided) Some mechanical background is an asset. Experience in forklift operation is an asset. Must provide references that will be verified

IC 4 qualifications or higher preferred Emergency Management training VFD Training or certifications. Air brakes, Class 3 or heavy trailer endorsement.
